Collaborating authors

What is it?

This lists the people you have co-authored publications with, indexed in the Scopus database and Web of Science databases. 

How do I use it? 

You may like to highlight collaborations with authors who are known experts in your field of research.  It can also demonstrate your ability to develop a network of collaborators.

Scopus

  1. Login to Scopus
  2. Search for the author's name and select from the results list
  3. Click on the Co-Authors tab. The first 150 are visible in the list. 
  4. To export the list of authors: Select All and click Show documents. 
  5. On the next screen, click Analyze search results, then select the tile that shows Documents by author

SciVal

  1. Login to SciVal
  2. Go to the Explore module and select your desired publication period
  3. From the left-hand menu, scroll down to Collaboration metrics  and select Current collaborators (Authors)
  4. The default view lists all co-authors by number of co-authored publication

 

Web of Science

  1. Login to Web of Science
  2. Select the Researchers tab and search for the individual
  3. On the left side of the page, click 'View citation report'
  4. On the citation report, click on 'Analyze results'
  5. Change from Web of Science Categories to Authors
  6. Scroll to the bottom of the page and select 'All data rows (up to 100,000)' and 'Download data table'. This will download as a text file. 
    1. To analyse the data in Excel, open Excel and click on the Data tab.
    2. In the Get & Transform Data section, select, 'From Text/CSV'
    3. Find the text file you just downloaded, and select 'Load'
    4. The loaded data shows the author names, how many articles/records they have authored and the percentage of the total amount of published papers in the WoS database for that researcher.

InCites

  1. Login to InCites
  2. Click the Analyze Tab and select Researchers
  3. Using the WoS Researcher Profile, type the name of the researcher into the box
  4. The results will come up in a table view. Under the table is a drop-down menu to choose 'Researchers that collaborate with this entity'.
  5. Choose the metrics you want to see using the 'Add indicator' button
