MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) enable you to participate in tertiary level courses in your own time and from your own location. MOOCs are a great way to gain skills in areas related to your degree and you can receive recognition for completing class activities and assessment. MOOCs are generally run during during a specific time-frame so some of the course listed below may not be immediately available for you to participate in.

LinkedIn Learning is a collection of online training videos, courses and tutorials that is free for QUT staff and students to access. The tutorials focus on software and skills for a number of different disciplines.You can access Lynda from your computer or your mobile device.

A basic introduction including information on how to find or define the information hierarchy, how to organise and understand data, how to tell stories with data, sketching and wire framing and choosing the right standard form of charts and graphs.
Excel: Charts in depth
This series explains the basic concepts involved in creating charts in Excel. Clear instructions and demonstrations are provided. No extensive prior knowledge of Excel charts is required to watch these videos.
Statistics Foundations: The Basics
This series of videos introduces basic information essential to understanding statistics. The tutorials cover concepts such as median, mean mode, variability, standard deviation, z scores and probability. Understanding these concepts is essential to effectively representing your data visually.
