Library Search

The Library Search is a good starting point to find information on a topic or to search for a specific resource. Use it to find peer-reviewed journal articles, books and ebooks, videos plus many more library resources.

Check out using the Library Search for tips on how to get the best results

Tips for using QuickFind

  • Search on keywords from your topic rather than entire phrases or questions
  • Use "Advanced Search" to search specifically for articles by particular authors or within specific journals
  • Use AND to add more words & get fewer, more specific results e.g. marketing AND plan
  • Use OR to add additional terms of similar meaning to get more results e.g. company OR organisation OR firm
  • Use "quotation marks" around words that you want to keep together e.g. "strategic plan"

Filter your results on the left hand side:

  • Limit to "peer-reviewed only" if you want just scholarly peer reviewed articles
  • Limit publication date to Last 5 years
  • Select a format
  • Limit to a study area - business, economics & social sciences are all useful

Searching for scholarly material

  • Scholarly books & ebooks - good starting point
  • Peer reviewed academic journal articles (e.g. Academy of Management journals)
  • Good quality trade magazine articles (e.g. Harvard Business Review, The Economist)

"Peer reviewed" means that:

  • An editor and one or more subject specialists review the article before it is published
  • Accurate information
  • Well-researched
  • Contributes to knowledge in a field
  • Mainly journal articles
