Electric Power Research Organisations
CIGRÉ - International Council on Large Electric SystemsCIGRE (anagram for French name Conseil International des Grands Réseaux Électriques, where it was founded), the International Council for Large Electric Systems is a global community committed to the collaborative development and sharing of power system expertise. Their publications are in many cases the authoritative source of reference information (see Electra under Journals and CIGRE under databases).
EPRI - Electric Power Research Instituteprovides thought leadership, industry expertise, and collaborative value to help the electricity sector identify issues, technology gaps, and broader needs that can be addressed through effective research and development programs for the benefit of society.
IEEE Power & Energy SocietyThe Power & Energy Society (PES) provides the world's largest forum for sharing the latest in technological developments in the electric power industry, for developing standards that guide the development and construction of equipment and systems, and for educating members of the industry and the general public. The scope of the Society embraces research, development, planning, design, construction, maintenance, installation and operation of equipment, structures, materials and power systems for the safe, sustainable, economic and reliable conversion, generation, transmission, distribution, storage and usage of electric energy, including its measurement and control.
