Why use a database? Databases are a great source for journal articles and conference proceedings. Some databases vary in the amount of information they provide. Some will contain full articles (known as full text), whilst others may only contain citations (which will require you to use the Library Catalogue to search for the article). While databases commonly contain or refer to journal articles, they can also have content related to statistics and standards, images and audio files, annual reports, company information and industry information, case law and legislation.
When searching Informit look for the ATRI - Australian Transport Index database.
Psychology students should begin their search with PsycINFO which is the major source for articles on psychology topics.
The key psychology database produced by the American Psychological Association (APA). It provides access to summaries of scholarly, peer-reviewed articles, books, chapters and dissertations covering behavioural science and mental health, with some citations dating back as far as the 1600s.
